Happy Fourth of July

tomorrow is the fourth of july and here i sit at work waiting to go home for the evening. am on standby tomorrow as well, but if i go in it will only be for a couple of hours (i am seriously hoping) and thomas gets to go with me. hooray!

i don't know why, but this time of year is when i miss my family the most. i think its the past of doing the parade in fredericksburg growing up. passing out flags year after year to young children and vets and seeing them wave them proudly afterwards makes the day seem so much more to me...

i still remember one year as i was running back and forth on each side of the route to the ww2 era jeep. there was this extremely old vet (from ww1) sitting in a wheelchair next to his van surrounded by his family. when i handed him his flag, he raised it proudly and started waving it, smiling broadly. that is by far my most favorite fourth of july memory. i just love this time and this holiday.

we are going to rob's mom's house tomorrow and bbqing with her, mel and james. i can't wait. this will be thomas/ first fourth of july!!! hooray! am gonna stop at wal-mart on my way home and get him a cute little red, white and blue outfit for the holiday.

thats really about it. not much going on with my life. got a ultrasound on my heart today. hope to hear from the dr about how it went. i really pray that they can figure it out before it gets too much more.
